Ukpeseraye confirmed that the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris marked her final competitive appearance, citing prolonged challenges in securing funding and sponsorship to continue her career.

Since the Olympics, she revealed that financial constraints prevented her from participating in several key competitions, forcing her to miss crucial events on the international calendar.

During the Paris 2024 Games, Ukpeseraye also faced logistical setbacks, as Nigeria’s Sports Ministry and the Nigeria Olympic Committee were unable to provide essential training materials and a competition bicycle.

She was eventually supported by her European club and a German company, which secured a track bike for her use at the Games.

Announcing her decision via a post on X (formerly Twitter), Ukpeseraye expressed gratitude and pride in her journey.

“Dear all, after many years of service, I am announcing my retirement from professional cycling. I am stepping away with a deep sense of pride and peace, and proud of the achievements and memories made throughout my career.

Looking forward to a new chapter. Thanks.”
Ukpeseraye’s retirement brings to a close a pioneering chapter in Nigerian cycling history.

Her Olympic appearance not only broke new ground for the sport in the country but also inspired a new generation of cyclists aspiring to compete on the world stage.
