Players, coaches, officials and supporters of Nigeria’s women’s cricket national team, Female Yellow Greens are still celebrating, following their bronze medal success, after snatching a stunning win against Brazil at the 2026 Kwibuka T20I Tournament.
Sports247 reports that the Nigerian team defeated Brazil’s women by two wickets to achieve a podium finish at Gahanga International Stadium in Kigali, Rwanda, while also getting sweet revenge for two previous defeats they suffered in the group stage.

In a truly determined show at Gahanga Cricket Oval, the Nigerian players showed grit in the third-place play-off, as they hit the ground running after winning the toss, first opting to field and then restricted Brazil to 85 all out.
The Yellow Greens also produced disciplined bowling before chasing 87 for eight in 19.2 overs and their well-deserved victory was eventually sealed with four balls left, as Christabel Chukwuonye led bowling attack with three wickets for 13 runs.
Chukwuonye, who ended up as player of the match, also delivered a maiden over, while Oseyande Omonkhobho, Shola Adekunle and Rachael Samson claimed two wickets each, with team captain, Favour Eseigbe adding a wicket.
Eseigbe retorted afterwards, “We lost four games before this third-place match, but we had momentum. It was a final push, because we wanted to take something home. We decided to come all out, and I commend the girls for their efforts.
“Everybody worked. Everybody was involved and encouraged each other. It was a team effort, but Christabel’s performance was commendable. We also appreciate the support we got, even on days we should have won. They kept supporting us.”
