Nigeria’s female cricket team, Yellow-Greens’ coach, Leke Oyede has given her squad a satisfactory scorecard for what she described as their commendable performance at the ongoing Kwibuka13 Championship in Kigali, Rwanda.
Sports247 gathered that the Nigerian squad pulled level on the number of games won and lost with their victory over Sierra Leone on Sunday, which Oyede noted was a heartwarming result for everyone in the team.
Although they still had two daunting fixtures against Malawi and Uganda this week to end their sojourn in Kigali, Oyede reckoned that the squad had already done well by winning three matches, though they also lost the same number of games.
“Currently, we are still in the tournament. We’ve had six games … of which we won three, but also lost three. We lost against Brazil, Rwanda the host country and Zimbabwe; but we won against Tanzania, Cameroon and Sierra Leone. Those results are commendable.
“So, I’m still optimistic of progressing in the tournament. If we can take our two remaining games against Malawi and Uganda, we should then be in the semi-finals with a good net-round weight. We can move to the semi-final, and then we’ll take it up from there,” Oyede projected.
