Nigerian youth centre-back Chetam Ezenwata, aged just 15, has received his first-ever call-up to train with Charlton Athletic’s senior squad in southeast London.
Chetam Ezenwata, a consistent standout in Charlton’s Under-18 setup, has featured in every Premier League U18 match this season and has already been involved twice with the U21 squad—a rapid rise for a player so young.

Expressing his excitement after the news broke, the teenager said, “I’m super excited to get this call. It’s every youth player’s dream to train with the first team and hopefully make a debut at a young age. With time, I believe I’ll feature in the Championship.”
His progress continues a growing narrative of Nigerian talent making waves in English academies. Chetam’s older brother, Chizzy Ezenwata, is currently making his mark at Chelsea’s U18/U21 levels and is on international duty with England U18—highlighting footballing ambition running in the family .
