Nigerian Teen Vince Osuji Impresses at Club Brugge Ahead of Belgian League Kickoff

Nigerian defender Vince Osuji has begun making a strong impression at Club Brugge following his January transfer from Swedish club Kalmar FF.

The 18-year-old centre-back joined the Belgian giants on a four-and-a-half-year deal earlier this year in a move reportedly worth around €3 million, making it the most expensive outgoing transfer in Kalmar’s history.

Osuji, a product of the Cardinal Football Academy in Nigeria, made 16 appearances for Kalmar before securing the move to Belgium. Since arriving at Club Brugge, he has featured in several preseason friendlies, drawing praise from coaches and fans for his composure, positioning, and aerial dominance.

Club Brugge officials have described Osuji as a long-term investment and a player with significant potential for both club and country. His early showings have boosted expectations ahead of the 2025–26 Belgian Pro League season.

Osuji’s development is being closely watched by scouts and national team selectors, with growing anticipation that the young defender could earn a call-up to Nigeria’s senior squad if he continues his upward trajectory in Belgium.

Club Brugge are scheduled to begin their league campaign next month, and Osuji is expected to be part of the first-team rotation as he continues to settle into life in Belgian football.
