Nigerian Striker Victor Orakpo Joins Montpellier on Loan from OGC Nice

Former FC Bako striker Victor Orakpo has officially joined Montpellier Hérault Sport Club on a season-long loan from OGC Nice.

The 19-year-old Nigerian forward, who began his career at VOE Football Academy and FC Bako in Kogi State, signed with Nice in January 2024 and featured in both Ligue 1 and the Europa League during the 2024/2025 season.

Standing at 1.95 meters, Orakpo made his Ligue 1 debut in Nice’s record-breaking 8–0 win over Saint-Étienne and was praised for his physical presence and technical skill.

Despite limited appearances due to injury, he remains highly rated by the French club.

The loan move to Montpellier, who are aiming for promotion from Ligue 2, is intended to give Orakpo regular playing time and accelerate his development.

He is expected to complete his medical and join the squad this week.
