Nigerian Player Becomes Captain of Irish Side, Hopes For National Team Call Up In The Future

Irish lower club Drogheda Town have named Olayinka Hazmat aka Ollie as their new club captain after the striker’s goals and assist helped the side gain promotion.

Olayinka 25years old, born 2nd March 1996, is a striker and winger who formerly played for Drogheda United as a very young player before moving to Athlone Town as well as Cabinteenly and then returning to Drogheda Town where he has been named captain of the side after helping the team gain promotion.

Speaking to Sports247 on his plans for the upcoming season, the striker was keen on getting a call up to the Nigerian National team.

“It’s always to improve and do better than we did last season. Personally, for me, it’s to represent my country. I know I’m not playing in a big club and all, they may not be looking at clubs in Dublin but it’s just the recognition for me. So it’s all about doing better and receiving recognition.”

Ollie joined Drogheda Town halfway through the season, playing only 8 games and having 11 goal contributions as he scored 6 goals and had 5 assists for his side.
