A member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Adedayo Olamuyiwa, has called for a full-scale investigation into the financial dealings of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) over alleged mismanagement of international grants said to have been received from FIFA and the Confederation of African Football (CAF) between 2015 and 2025.
The Lagos State lawmaker, in a motion presented during plenary on Monday, alleged that the federation had received over $25 million in development and operational funds but failed to provide clear, transparent accounting of how the money was spent.

Olamuyiwa, who represents Lagos Mainland Federal Constituency, cited the controversial $1.2 million FIFA Forward grant reportedly used for the construction of the Birnin Kebbi Stadium as an example, describing the facility as “grossly substandard and unworthy of the amount claimed.”
“This is not about politics — it’s about accountability,” Olamuyiwa declared. “When you see a facility that clearly does not reflect its stated cost, questions must be asked. Nigerians deserve to know where their football money goes.”
He added that a series of financial irregularities and “questionable expenditures” had dogged the NFF for years, eroding public trust and hindering Nigeria’s football development at both grassroots and elite levels.
“The NFF continues to receive grants, but the results on the pitch and in administration don’t match the funding,” he said. “We must ensure that every dollar received is used for its intended purpose — not personal gain.”
The House has since adopted the motion and mandated its Committee on Sports to open an immediate probe into the federation’s financial records.
The investigation is expected to cover FIFA Forward funds, CAF grants, and sponsorship revenues over the last decade, with lawmakers insisting that this marks “the beginning of a new era of transparency and accountability” in Nigerian football administration.
