Nigerian Defender Chisimdi Ekene Set to Sign First Professional Deal with Brazilian Side América-PE

The highly rated center-back joins the Recife-based side from Elite Space Football Academy, Enugu State, Nigeria. In a symbolic show of faith, América-PE sent their official green jersey to Enugu, where Ekene proudly wore the colors of his new team for the first time. The gesture marks the beginning of his journey into South American football and reflects the growing partnership between the Nigerian academy and the Brazilian side.

Ekene, known for his strength, composure, and defensive awareness, is tipped to adapt quickly to Brazilian football. His arrival continues América-PE’s commitment to integrating young African talents into their squad.

The teenager expressed excitement about the move, describing it as a dream come true. “It’s an honor to start my professional career in Brazil, a country with so much football history. I want to work hard, learn, and make my mark with América,” he said after receiving the jersey.

With the deal set to be finalized in the coming days, fans of Mequinha are expected to welcome Ekene as he begins his development in Brazilian football. For Nigerian football, his signing represents another milestone in the growing export of young talents to South America.
