Nigerian-born Heavyweight Boxer Daniel Dubois Hit With Stern Challenge From Chinese Southpaw

Nigeria-born former world heavyweight boxing champion, Daniel Dubois has been hit with a stern challenge coming from Chinese southpaw fighter, Zhilei Zhang, who wants to help him put his career back on track.

Sports247 gathered that, while Dubois is yet to enter the roped square after losing his belt to Oleksandr Usyk of Ukraine, the former champ has been offered the chance of a revival by Zhang.

While the 28-year-old Dubois, whose mum is a Nigerian, is yet to disclose his plans for 2026, it will interest him to learn that Zhang absolutely wants to fight the ex-title holder, who has been absent since his second loss to Usyk last July.

The 6′ 6″ tall ‘Big Bang’ is ready to take on the British star at any venue, according to his co-manager, Terry Lane, who told Sky Sports: “Zhang absolutely wants the Dubois fight.

“It’s been on his wish list for some time now. We’ve made Queensberry aware, and let’s hope we can get it done. Zhang versus Dubois would be an absolute banger.”

Sports247 recalls that Zhang suffered a stoppage defeat to Agit Kabayel last year February, but previously achieved global reckoning with shock wins over Deontay Wilder and Joe Joyce.
