Nigerian Athletes And The Fallacy Of ‘Coconut Water’ – Enefiok Udo-Obong Dispels It’s Authenticity

Two time Olympics medal winner for Nigeria, Enefiok Udo-Obong has dispelled the authenticity of ‘coconut water’ which some Nigerian athletes believes can cleanse chemical substances, drugs in thier system revealing that it’s not potent enough.

As revealed, some athletes use this as a way to cheat in major competitions but he said it doesn’t kill the evidence of drugs in thier body totally as he clamors on the need for ‘proper drug education’ for Nigerian sports athletes as he sees it as a viable solution for Nigeria sports success particularly in the global stage.

Also a writer, speaker and businessman, Enee made this known at the just concluded two days Sport Impact Africa Seminar convened by veteran journalist Deji Omotoyinbo which had so many dignitaries in attendance with the likes of former NBA star Olumide Oyedeji, Dr. Larry Izamoje, CEO Brila Group all present.

“Drug cheat has eaten deep into Nigerian athletes and a proper education is what is needed. We should stop calling doctors, professors who come to the athletes and speak english that they don’t understand, this can not make them understand what they are saying,” he began.

“A proper education means somebody who will come and tell them, this you are using is not good, this is what it will cost you. Most of this athletes don’t understand all the chemical terms talking about some banned drugs but when you use the language that they understand, like when you talk about it, they will understand how much damage it can do to them and thier career.”

“Some athletes will come out and tell you no matter what you use, if you drink coconut water, it will neutralize drugs in your system and no machine can detect you and this is what really is the issue. If somebody makes them understand that coconut water cannot stop anything, you will be caught, they need to speak the language they understand and that’s the only way we can put an end to it,” he concluded.
