This achievement further underscores Nigeria’s reputation as a powerhouse for nurturing young football talent.
The Nigerian squad was selected in July during the national edition of the tournament held in Oshodi, Lagos, where top young players from across the country competed under the keen eyes of scouts and coaches.
At the world finals, Nigeria outperformed eight other nations — including China, Canada, Argentina, the USA, Japan, Germany, and Rwanda — to claim the prestigious trophy.
Victor Edeh, Executive Director of FC Bayern Youth Cup Nigeria, praised the team’s remarkable performance, highlighting their growth and consistency throughout the tournament.

“It’s great to see the boys achieve success after some tricky games,” Edeh said.
“We’re delighted that Nigeria now holds the record for the most Youth Cup titles. Beyond the trophy, the cultural exchange and development these players experience — from regional qualifiers to the world finals — are truly outstanding.”
Edeh emphasized the importance of structured talent development, noting that Nigeria must remain intentional about scouting and nurturing young players to help them thrive globally.
“For these boys, it validates their talent on the global stage and motivates them to keep improving,” he added.
“For Nigeria, it shows we have the talent to excel internationally, but we must provide the right environment to help them grow.”
He also cited past Nigerian participants who have advanced to professional football, including Victor Orakpo and Daniel Francis, as proof of the project’s long-term impact.
The FC Bayern Youth Cup is a prestigious international youth football tournament that brings together elite young players from around the world. It serves as a vital platform for scouting and player development, with many alumni progressing to professional clubs in Europe and beyond.
Nigeria’s latest triumph reinforces its standing as a breeding ground for exceptional football talent — and a bright future for the nation’s next generation of stars.
