Nigeria Volleyball League will go on, says LOC

The Nigeria Volleyball Premier League (NVBL) will continue to hold as scheduled, according to a statement by the Local Organising Committee (LOC) released on Thursday.

 

The League is scheduled to hold November 1st to 10th 2018 in Kaduna at the Umaru Musa Yar’adua Indoor Sports Hall.

In a statement signed by the LOC Secretary General, Alhaji Maikano Adamu said the federation is in touch with various security agencies in the state.

He said machineries have been put in place to safeguard lives and properties of the respective clubs.

Adamu said if there is any last minute change of venue, the LOC will move the league to Abuja.

He appreciated Kaduna state for providing an enabling environment for Volleyball to thrive and also allowing the federation to host the Premier League after 30 years.

He said, “I want to assure the teams who qualified for the Premier League that the federation is doing everything in its power to have a hitch free league and the relevant authorities have been contacted.

“The curfew has been relaxed and most of the residents of Kaduna are now going to their respective business. The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, Kaduna chapter has also promised to supports in the promotion of the League”.

He further said, “We want to specifically thank Kaduna state government led by Mallam Nasir El Rufai for his swift intervention of the Crisis and also permitting us to host the Nigeria Volleyball in the state. If you recall, the Kaduna state government also supported the federation in hosting the Savannah Conference of the Nigeria Volleyball League.

“If there are any last minute changes, the LOC will move the venue of the Volleyball League to Abuja”, he added.
