Nigeria Thrash Côte d’Ivoire in Deaf Football Tournament Opener, Eyes Semi Final Ticket Against The Gambia on Friday

Nigeria’s senior national deaf football team, the Deaf Eagles, began their title defence at the 13th West Africa Deaf Football Tournament with an emphatic 3–0 victory over Côte d’Ivoire on Thursday at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja.

After a goalless first half, the Deaf Eagles came alive in the second period, scoring three unanswered goals to seal a dominant opening win.

The result underlines Nigeria’s pedigree in the competition, having reached the final on ten occasions and lifted the trophy five times.

With eyes set on a sixth crown, Nigeria will return to action on Friday at 4 p.m., when they face The Gambia in their second Group A fixture.

Victory in that game will guarantee a place in the semi-finals and brighten their title defence chances.

Elsewhere, Liberia will take on Togo in a Group B clash scheduled for 9 a.m. on Friday.
