Competing as the country’s sole representative at the championships in Toruń, Poland, Enekwechi showed resilience on the global stage, continuing his role as Nigeria’s leading figure in the field event.

Although the result fell short of podium contention, his presence underscored Nigeria’s growing consistency in international shot put competitions.

Enekwechi, a multiple-time African champion, battled against a highly competitive field of 17 athletes but was unable to break into the top 10.

Despite this, his effort reflects sustained progress and commitment, as he continues to carry Nigeria’s hopes in a discipline traditionally dominated by European and American athletes.

At the top of the standings, New Zealand’s Tom Walsh produced a stunning final-round throw of 21.82m to secure gold and a season’s best mark.

The victory marked his fourth world indoor title, further cementing his legacy as one of the greatest shot putters in championship history.

The United States duo of Jordan Geist (21.64m) and Roger Steen (21.49m) claimed silver and bronze respectively, completing a strong outing for Team USA.

While the spotlight shone on Walsh’s historic achievement,

Enekwechi’s participation remains significant for Nigerian athletics.

Being the country’s lone competitor at the championships highlights both his consistency and the need for broader representation in global field events.

With the outdoor season approaching, expectations remain high for Enekwechi to build on this experience and deliver stronger performances in upcoming competitions.
