The National Sports Commission (NSC) has formally unveiled a 21-man Local Organizing Committee (LOC) for the 2027 Africa School Games, which will take place in Abuja, Nigeria.
Nigeria was unanimously selected as host during an extraordinary session of the ANOCA Executive Committee, and the NSC says preparations have already begun to ensure the country delivers a world-class event.

Director General of the NSC, Hon. Bukola Olopade, said the Commission is determined to surpass the standard seen at the last edition in Algeria, where Nigeria finished third with 25 medals.
“We are glad to host the Africa School Games. We were in Algeria for the last edition, and our athletes did well with spectacular podium performance,” Olopade stated.
“We set up this organizing committee in order to have a befitting event in Abuja. We witnessed what transpired in Algeria, and we want to put up a better show. The members of the committee are sports administrators with credible track records and were carefully selected. We believe they will give us the best event.”
The LOC is chaired by Mr. Lekan Abari, with Abdumumuni Shagaya serving as secretary. Their mandate is to prepare and deliver one of Africa’s most memorable school sports competitions.
