NIGERIA PLAYERS UNION WARNS CLUBS ON INDISCRIMINATE SACK OF PLAYERS

The National Association of Nigeria Professional footballers, NANPF warns Football Clubs over the indiscriminate sack of players without following due process. The Players union want Clubs to be more professional and stop sending Players sack messages through SMS, including placement on transfer

We know these are not normal times, because of the impact of the covid19 pandemic on the industry. The Union condemn the indisciminate use of test message to convey the sack of players without the dignity of discussing with their players and, or the union as recommended by FIFA and the president of the country on the sack of nigeria workers, suggesting that all decisions must be collective in nature. Its important we recognise the fact that the player is not just a sportsman, but also a workman with rights and as such must be treated as one

The Union therefore wants the NFF and the Leagues to take up their responsibility and halt this ugly trend from the clubs before it gains popularity. If not, it will be difficult for the league to start Post Covid19 due to potential cases of avoidable litigations in the Industrial court due to the absence of the Players status committee and or National dispute resolution chamber.

The Union has been receiving series of complian from Players of either outright sack, massive deduction of salaries and placement on transfer through text messages and unsigned letters , such as the case of Jigawa Golden Stars letter to Pascal Eke which the Union consider insulting, derogatory and undignified. The NFF and the league should act now.
