Nigeria Players’ union commends NFF on N5m donation to ailing Bidemi Aluko

Nigeria’s players union, the National Association of Nigerian Professional Footballers (NANPF), has commended the leadership of Nigeria Football Federation for fulfilling its financial promise to Abidemi Aluko who is battling with cancer.

In a statement by Tijani Babangida, MON, President of NANPF, he thanked the Amaju Pinnick led board of the NFF on the five million naira (N5million) donation to support the medical treatment of the former Rivers Angels and Super Falcons goal keeper.

Babangida describes the donation as timely and important. He attested that the gesture is an indication that the NFF is aware of the needs to join hands with the player’s union to help improve the welfare conditions of the Nigerian footballers.

Former Super Falcons legendary goal keeper, Ann Chiejine-Agumanu, who is the player’s union’s chairperson on Women Affairs Commission, also expressed her gratitude to the NFF on behalf of the ailing Aluko.

” We say, a big thank you to the NFF. This donation would definitely assist Aluko in getting the needed treatment to get her back on her feet,” she remarked.

Speaking on the donation by NFF, Aluko expressed her happiness and heartfelt gratitude on the financial assistance from the NFF, as well as other donors towards helping her overcome her battle against the life threatening cancer.

“I am very grateful on this donation. And I say thank you very much. I feel so honoured for the help I have received so far, from all angles. And I must particularly thank the leadership and members of the players union for the morale and financial assistance they have been giving since the beginning of my ailment. God bless everyone for the support,” Aluko said in emotion laden tone.

Speaking further on her ailment, she disclosed that she had started receiving treatment and also began the 6th course of her treatment on Friday, this week.
