Nigeria Launches Massive Fan Mobilisation As NSC Sends Supporters To Morocco For Super Eagles’ Crucial World Cup Playoff

The National Sports Commission (NSC) has triggered an extensive mobilisation drive for Nigerian supporters at home and abroad ahead of the Super Eagles’ decisive 2026 World Cup playoff showdown against Gabon in Rabat, Morocco, on Thursday.

Determined to give the national team a commanding presence inside the stadium, the NSC — under the leadership of Chairman Mallam Shehu Dikko and Director General Hon. Bukola Olopade — has fully sponsored members of Nigeria’s Supporters Clubs to Morocco while simultaneously activating the Nigerian community across North Africa to storm the venue in large numbers.

Speaking ahead of the tie, DG Bukola Olopade said the move was essential to ensure the Super Eagles enjoy maximum vocal and psychological backing throughout the encounter.

“We have one of the best supporters’ clubs in the world, and they have always been the 12th player of the team,” Olopade said. “From the era of the Green Eagles to today’s Super Eagles, their presence has always been crucial. For a playoff of this magnitude, we cannot afford to take chances.”

Olopade confirmed that the NSC has also provided logistical support to Nigerian residents in Morocco to ensure a massive turnout.

“We have ensured that the Nigerian community here is fully mobilised. We want the stadium intimidating for Gabon on Thursday — and we have the population to achieve that,” he added.

The mobilisation strategy has drawn praise from the Unified Nigeria Supporters Club, whose Interim Chairman, Prince Vincent Okumagba, applauded the NSC leadership for what he described as an unprecedented show of solidarity.

“Mallam Shehu Dikko and Hon. Bukola Olopade truly understand the language of sports,” Okumagba said. “They know the importance of a game of this magnitude and have shown genuine collaboration with us. With this level of support, the Super Eagles will book that World Cup ticket.”

With the NSC’s full machinery activated and Nigerian supporters set to paint Rabat green and white, the Super Eagles will not walk alone as they battle Gabon for a place on the world’s biggest football stage.
