Nigeria Has Very Good Team For African U18/U20 Athletics Championship In Abeokuta – Gabriel Okon

The technical director of Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN), Gabriel Okon has assured that the country has a very good team that can make the nation proud as hosts of this year’s African junior championship.

Sports247 reports that the competition, which is officially known as 3rd CAA U18/U20 Athletics Championship, kick-start at MKO Abiola Stadium in Abeokuta, Ogun State from this Wednesday, July 16th to Sunday, the 20th, and Okon believes Team Nigeria will do well.

Though a total of 937 athletes from 43 countries are already on ground for the competition, Okon is not feeling any threat for the hosts’ contingent and disclosed that they are ready to make the country proud.

The former athlete declared, “We are ready technically and in all necessary aspects. Those we are expecting are also confirmed for the competition.

“We expect those who are rated high among the best from Africa as compared to the rest of the world. We, the hosts, also have a very good team and we are ready to go.”
