Nigeria goalkeeper Akpeyi keeps clean sheet in stalemate

Nigeria goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi kept a clean sheet in his 11th game of the topflight season in South Africa as Chippa United drew 0-0 at Maritzburg United on Tuesday.

The 32-year-old started the game from the onset and had much to do in the game.

He has now kept five clean sheets in 11 appearances for the Chili Boys in the South African top tier league.

Maritzburg started strongly, as a free-kick from Deolin Mekoa from the left side caused some danger, but Akpeyi was able to gather safely in the end.

The Team of Choice continued asking questions and after linking up with Andrea Fileccia, Fortune Makaringe shot straight at Akpeyi to round off the match.

Akpeyi was behind the sticks for the Super Eagles of Nigeria in a recent international friendly against Uganda which ended 0-0 at the Stephen Keshi Stadium.
