In a significant stride towards global sports recognition, Nigeria has officially set the wheels in motion for its hosting of the prestigious World Athletics Africa Road Running Conference by constituting a high-level Organizing Committee.
The National Sports Commission (NSC) has named Chief Solomon Ogba, First Vice President of the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC), as Chairman of the Committee.
This event marks the first-ever Road Running Conference to be held in Nigeria, signaling a bold new chapter in the nation’s sports diplomacy and infrastructure.
The committee, unveiled by NSC Chairman Mallam Shehu Dikko, features a blend of elite sports administrators and top-tier professionals from the corporate world.
“The members of the Committee were meticulously selected because of their professionalism and tested qualities,” Dikko affirmed. “I have no doubt that they will bring their wealth of experience to ensure we stage a befitting conference.”
Director General of the NSC, Hon. Bukola Olopade, emphasized the broader implications of hosting such an event.
“This is another milestone in refocusing and resetting our sports developmental goals. I am confident that this team will deliver a world-class experience,” he said.
