At the Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS) Cricket Oval, Nigeria held their nerve in a pulsating encounter against South Africa U19, with both sides finishing level after 20 overs.

South Africa posted 133/7, a total Nigeria matched at 133/3 to force the game into a Super Over.

In the decisive moment, Nigeria delivered under pressure, clinching the Super Over win to avenge their earlier loss in the tournament and boost their standing ahead of the knockout stages.

Meanwhile, it was a one-sided affair in the day’s other fixture, as Zimbabwe U19 Women overwhelmed Ghana with a dominant all-round performance.

Zimbabwe posted an imposing 225/2 in their allotted 20 overs, powered by a sensational unbeaten 102 from Beloved Biza, who tore into the Ghanaian bowling attack with a commanding display.

In response, Ghana struggled from the outset and were eventually bowled out for just 45 runs in 18.3 overs, handing Zimbabwe a crushing 180-run victory.

The result marks Ghana’s second heavy setback in the tournament, raising concerns over their competitiveness as the competition heads toward the semi-final stage.

The ongoing five-nation tournament, organised by the Nigeria Cricket Federation, continues to serve as a key development platform for women’s cricket across Africa, with matches running through March 29 in Lagos.
