The regional showdown, taking place at the Molade Okoya Thomas Sports Hall inside the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere, is the first of five major table tennis events scheduled to be hosted in Lagos this year.

With the win, Nigeria not only claimed the women’s team crown but also booked a spot at the 2025 ITTF Africa Senior Championships in Rwanda. The team will now turn their attention to the highly anticipated WTT Contender Lagos event, set to take place from July 22 to 26 at the same venue.

In the men’s team event, Nigeria’s trio of Taiwo Mati, Matthew Kuti, and Abdulbasit Abdulfatai delivered strong performances in Group One.

They advanced to the final after a walkover against Liberia and dominant wins over the Ivory Coast (3-1) to qualify for the semi-final.
