Nigeria’s women’s national cricket team, the Female Yellow Greens, have emerged champions of the 2026 Nigeria Women’s Invitational T20I Tournament (Patricia Kambarami Cup) following a hard-fought victory over Rwanda in the final held in Lagos.
The hosts posted a modest total of 80 all out in their allotted 20 overs after electing to bat first.
Despite the low target, Nigeria’s bowlers delivered a disciplined performance to restrict Rwanda to 71 for 9 in 20 overs, sealing a narrow but crucial nine-run victory.
Usen Peace delivered a standout performance to earn Player of the Match honours, playing a pivotal role in Nigeria’s successful title defence.
The bowling unit also impressed collectively, ensuring Rwanda never gained full control of the chase.
Earlier in the day, Rwanda showed early promise during their innings, reaching 13 without loss after four overs while chasing 81.
However, Nigeria’s resilience in the field ultimately proved decisive as they tightened their grip on the contest.
In the third-place playoff, South Africa U19 Women secured a dominant 70-run victory over Zimbabwe U19 Women to finish on the podium. South Africa posted an imposing 133 for 5 in 20 overs before restricting Zimbabwe to 63 for 8.
Nigeria had booked their place in the final after defeating South Africa U19 Women by seven wickets in the semi-finals, while Rwanda advanced after overcoming Zimbabwe U19 Women.
The tournament showcased emerging talents across the participating nations, with Nigeria once again underlining their growing dominance in women’s cricket on the continent.
