Nigeria Women clinched a nail-biting four-run victory over Uganda Women in Match 29 of the Kwibuka Women’s T20I Tournament at the Gahanga International Cricket Stadium, defending a modest total of 73 to seal a memorable win and boost their hopes of qualifying for the Semi Final of the championship.
Electing to bowl first after winning the toss, Uganda Women restricted Nigeria to 73 for 9 in their allotted 20 overs.

Despite the low total, Nigeria’s disciplined bowling and sharp fielding turned the tide in their favour, dismissing Uganda for 69 in a full 20 overs, condemning the Ugandans to their first lost in seven games in the series, having done 6 wins out of six games.
Muhibat Amusa Kehinde top-scored for Nigeria with a patient 30 off 52 deliveries, anchoring the innings in difficult conditions.
She found little support, however, as wickets fell at regular intervals. Salome Sunday (14) and Sarah Etim (8) were the only other batters to offer brief resistance.
Uganda’s bowling unit was led by Janet Mbabazi, who delivered an impressive spell of 4-0-16-4. She was well supported by Kevin Amuge (1/6) and Concylate Aweko (1/10), keeping Nigeria’s batters under pressure throughout.
In reply, Uganda faltered in their chase, with the Nigerian bowlers applying pressure early and consistently. Despite the experience in Uganda’s batting line-up, wickets tumbled, and the team could only manage 69 runs before being bowled out.
Nigeria’s fielders were instrumental, affecting key run-outs and maintaining intensity in the field.
The final moments were tense, but the West African side held their composure to close out a famous win.
With this victory, Nigeria adds a crucial win to their campaign in the 2025 Kwibuka Women’s T20I, taking their records to 5 victories and 3 loses cementing their place in top four for now waiting for other results for the confirmation of their semi final berth.
