The screening event is scheduled to take place from December 4 to 10, with the participation of prominent American football professionals who will be in Lagos to support the federation in conducting the evaluations.

NAFA’s President, Babajide Akeredolu, shared insights into the initiative, emphasizing the importance of identifying and nurturing talent from across Nigeria.

Eligible players from various regions will have the opportunity to showcase their skills and potentially earn a spot on the national teams, which will represent Nigeria in international competitions.

Akeredolu stated, “As part of our efforts to promote and popularize American football in the country, NAFA will officially open the senior national team camp in the first week of December in Lagos.

Distinguished American football players will travel to Nigeria to oversee the selection and tryout process for both male and female athletes who will receive invitations to join the national American football and Flag Football teams.”

This move signifies NAFA’s commitment to developing American football talent in Nigeria and providing a platform for aspiring athletes to excel in the sport.

In another positive development, the Abuja Flag Football League (AFFL) has aligned itself with the American Football Association of Nigeria (AFAN) by becoming a full member.

This affiliation highlights the growing interest and participation in American football within Nigeria, as more local leagues and organizations recognize the sport’s potential and value.

The screening exercise and the collaboration with AFFL demonstrate NAFA’s dedication to the growth and advancement of American football in Nigeria.

By identifying and nurturing promising talent and expanding the sport’s reach through partnerships, the federation aims to elevate American football’s status in the country and compete on the international stage with strong, competitive national teams.
