Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has set in motion a plan to ensure they hook Senegal for a build-up friendly match with the beach soccer national team, Super Sand Eagles ahead of their continental qualifier versus Ghana.
Sports247 reports that, with the Sand Eagles’ home fixture against Ghana scheduled to take place in Kaduna on Saturday, October 10th and the away leg holding in Accra seven days later, the NFF has approached Senegal for a clash with the African champions.
The proposed friendly matches with the holders and hosts of this year’s continental showpiece is expected to help the Sand Eagles in their ongoing preparations for their confrontation with Ghana’s Black Sharks, as Nigeria aims to make a statement after several years’ absence.
Nigeria returned to beach soccer’s international terrain two years ago but lost on the away goal rule to Mauritania in the qualifying series for the 2024 CAF Beach Soccer AFCON that was hosted by Seychelles, hence their aim to defeat Ghana and get a ticket to Senegal 2026.
This year’s championship will hold from October 7th to 15th October in Dakar, ahead of which Nigeria must scale the Ghanian hurdle, ahead of which the Eagles’ camp is bubbling with 20 players, as preparations shif into top gear for next month’s qualifying fixtures.
Sports247 gathered further that the team is receiving tactical and technical drills at Murtala Muhammed Square Sports Complex in Kaduna, under the care of Coach Christopher Kadiri, but the side’s main gaffer, Abdullahi Isa is with the Golden Eaglets, ahead the WAFU-B U17 Championship.
