The resolutions were adopted at the federation’s Extraordinary General Assembly held on Monday in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.
According to a communiqué issued after the meeting, delegates approved revisions to the NFF Statutes (March 2026 Edition), Electoral Code and Standing Orders.
The updated provisions are expected to regulate the forthcoming elections into the federation’s Executive Committee and strengthen administrative processes within Nigerian football.
As part of the electoral preparations, the Congress also confirmed the membership of the Electoral Committee and Electoral Appeals Committee, with 12 individuals drawn evenly from the six geopolitical zones.
Among those appointed are Matthew Burkala and Emmanuel Obafemi (North Central); Babagoni Grema and Benjamin Sak (North East); Bature Musa alongside Abdulmalik Awwal (North West); Justice C. J. Aneke and Arinze Anughere (South East); Olugbenga Omole and Abayomi Omoyimi (South West); as well as Ayibaye Temedie and Ayi Ukpayam (South South).
The NFF stated that the members will be inaugurated in Abuja on March 25, after which they will be constituted into the Electoral Committee and Appeals Committee in line with the provisions of the Electoral Code.
The Electoral Committee will consist of five members and two alternates, while the Appeals Committee will have three members and two alternates.
The Elective Congress is scheduled to take place in Lafia, Nasarawa State, where new executives will be elected or the current leadership may seek re-election.
EY Appointed New Auditor
In a separate decision, the Congress approved the appointment of Ernst & Young (EY) as the federation’s new independent auditor for an initial four-year tenure.
The firm replaces PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), which served in the role for nine years.
The NFF said EY’s selection followed a competitive process involving seven audit firms and expressed confidence in improved financial oversight.
Tributes and Acknowledgements
The assembly observed a minute’s silence in honour of notable football figures who recently passed away, including former NFF Technical Director Adegboye Onigbinde and ex-Super Eagles captain Henry Nwosu.
The Congress also commended the Bayelsa State Government for hosting the gathering and recognised its continued support for football development.
Officials from FIFA and the Confederation of African Football (CAF) attended the meeting, highlighting international oversight and interest in Nigeria’s football administration.
