NFF President Ibrahim Gusau Dedicates His WAFU Post To Nigerians

The recently installed president of West African Football Union (WAFU) zone-B, Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau has dedicated his new post in the regional body to all Nigerians and everyone who supported him to achieve this milestone, Sports247 reports.

While pointing out that the last time Nigeria enjoyed the top spot in the regional football governing body was over 20 years ago, Gusau affirmed that his elevation was made possible because of the unflinching support he is receiving in running the round leather game for the country.

Gusau admitted further that the strides he has been able to achieve as the president of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) made his ascent to the helm of affairs of WAFU-B possible, and he thanked everyone who made it happen.

He said in the wake of Wednesday’s announcement of his new position, “First of all, let me thank all of you. It’s good to celebrate when you see somebody else has been given an opportunity to lead an organisation. Along the line, he gets the chance to go higher and is now organised for something bigger. It means he’s getting support from all the people he’s working with.”

Gusau went on to humbly admit that he would not have been able to pilot Nigerian football effectively if he did not have adequate support from the workers, officials, media and all stakeholders.

He continued, “If people are not giving me all the support needed, I may not be in full confidence and privilege to be exposing myself to that level. So, I must thank everybody for their support over the period of time that God has given us to steer affairs of the federation.”

He then spoke about his readiness and ability to face up to the challenges of running WAFU B effectively, regardless of language barriers, distances, and diverse interests of all nations that are members of the sub-region.

“I’m not scared, and I must say I’m delighted because the last time somebody from Nigeria held this position should be around 20-something years ago; that was Dr Amos Adamu.

“Nigeria is now far, far ahead of that. We can not be in a regional body, and we don’t have someone who has the capacity of being at the helm of affairs of that organisation,” Gusau pointed out.
