Gusau made the observation in anticipation of a keen competition in the 2026 Nigeria National League (NNL) Super-4 next week in Ikenne, Ogun State, ahead of which he also assured the organizing body of his unwavering support.
He pledged that the NFF will neither interfere in the organization of the competition nor obstruct the NNL’s administrative operations, as he expressed total confidence in the ability of the lower league body’s chairman, George Aluo, to deliver excellence.
The NFF’s supremo added that Aluo has been able to run the NNL seamlessly and flawlessly, in a manner he declared is worthy of praise, while showing signs of better things to come at next week’s Super-4 and in the coming season.
While acknowledging that there is still work in progress regarding the NNL’s impact in Nigeria’s domestic football sector, Gusau urged Aluo and his aides to intensify their efforts in procuring sponsorship packages for the lower division.
“This is just the beginning, I’m happy to see all the progress that is taking place. Every penny generated by the NNL has been spent on the league, no one kobo has been spent elsewhere. I can assure you that more money will come.
“Let’s see how we are going to move forward. We must create content. It’s only when we create content that we show them this is what we have. That’s what attracts sponsors for the progress of the league and increases the rewards system,” Gusau asserted.
