NFF Plan Two Friendlies For Eagles, Spain For Falcons

The executive committee of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has approved two more matches for the Super Eagles, as part of the team’s build-up programme for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.

 

Sports247.ng can report further that the NFF also stated after their meeting at Hampton Hotel, Asaba that the female national team, Super Falcons will attend another competition in Spain, in continuation of their preparation for the FIFA Women’s World Cup in France.

A communique issued after the meeting partly stated: “After expressing its commitment to give maximum support to the prorgamme of the technical crew in order ensure victory for Nigeria at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations taking place in Egypt this summer.

“The Board approved that the Super Eagles play two more friendly matches during the FIFA –free window before the championship.

“Committee reiterated an earlier position that Nigeria National Teams would always compete favourably for honours at major championships, and not attend simply to make up the number.

“In the same spirit of guaranteeing that Nigeria National Teams perform creditably at major championships, the Board approved a proposal that the Senior Women National Team, Super Falcons, should attend a tournament in Spain in the first week of April.

“(They will) then take part in the WAFU Cup Tournament in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire in May, as part of preparations for the 8th FIFA Women’s World Cup in France this summer.
“It was also unanimously agreed that the team will have its final, pre-World Cup camp at the same Avita Resort in Bad Tatzmannsdorf that the Super Eagles made use of before flying to the 2018 FIFA World Cup finals in Russia.”
