In its ruling, the Committee confirmed that Coach Uzor signed a valid professional coaching agreement with Heartland FC on August 1, 2024, to serve as Head Coach for the 2024–2026 Nigeria Premier Football League seasons.
The contract stipulated a monthly salary of ₦700,000.
Heartland FC terminated the contract on June 11, 2025, citing alleged breaches by the coach.
However, after reviewing submissions from both parties, the Committee found that the club acted unilaterally and without just cause.
It further ruled that Heartland failed to follow due process, including issuing proper queries or carrying out disciplinary procedures prior to the termination.
Coach Uzor had initially claimed ₦8.4 million as compensation for the unexpired portion of his contract.
After careful consideration, the Committee awarded ₦6.4 million, ordering the club to settle the amount within 45 days of receiving the decision.
The Committee warned that failure to comply will attract sanctions, including a transfer ban that would prevent Heartland FC from registering new players until the debt is fully paid.
The ruling reinforces the NFF’s commitment to enforcing contractual obligations and safeguarding the rights of football professionals within the Nigerian game.
