The two Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) sides had earlier been banished from playing at their home grounds until the end of the season after separate incidents of crowd trouble during league matches.

Wikki Tourists were initially sanctioned after supporters engaged in unruly behaviour during their match against Katsina United on February 8 at the Tafawa Balewa Stadium in Bauchi.

While reviewing the appeal, the Committee agreed with the NPFL that there was a clear breach of security at the venue but ruled that some of the sanctions were excessive.

Consequently, the Committee reduced Wikki Tourists’ home ban to five matches, which will run concurrently from the date the initial sanction was imposed.

Kwara United were also penalised following crowd disturbances during their fixture against Rivers United on February 18 at the Rashidi Yekini Main Bowl in Ilorin.

Both the NPFL and the NFF Disciplinary Committee found that the club failed to provide adequate security arrangements, allowing unauthorised individuals to gain access to restricted areas within the stadium.

While the Committee upheld several of the sanctions handed down by the NPFL, Kwara United’s appeal to have their three-point and three-goal deduction reversed was rejected.

However, the Committee granted partial relief by reducing the club’s home ground ban to five matches, which will also take effect from the date the original sanction was issued.
