Officials of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) have formally set in motion an elaborate electoral process that will climax with the emergence of a new executive committee for the round leather game’s governing body on September 26th.

Sports247 gathered that the procedure was set in motion fully this Thursday, when the electoral committee and electoral appeals committee were both inaugurated in Abuja, after being constituted during last week’s extraordinary general assembly.
Consequent to resolutions reached during the Congress that took place in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, members of both committees are expected to immediately commence activities heading into elections that will steer in a new NFF Executive Committee.
A new president of the NFF, or reelection of the current leader, Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, will also be decided during the election, which is scheduled to hold in Lafia, Nasarawa State on Saturday, September 26th.
A media statement by the NFF’s communications department added in part, “A total of 12 persons were appointed into the two committees, with seven of them to serve on the Electoral Committee and five on the Electoral Appeals Committee.
“Out of the seven who will be on the Electoral Committee, five will be full members – including a chairperson, a vice chairperson and three ordinary members. Two persons will be alternates.
“The Electoral Committee shall supervise the electoral process in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Statutes of the NFF (March 2026 edition) and of the Electoral Code (March 2026).
“On the floor of the Extraordinary General Assembly in Yenagoa on Monday, 23rd March 2026, the following persons were appointed to serve in the two committees: Barrister Matthew Burkala, SAN; Hon. Justice C. J. Aneke; Mr. Emmanuel Dada Obafemi; Alhaji Babagoni Grema,
“(Others are) Barr. Benjamin Sak; Mallam Bature Musa; Prof. Abdulmalik Awwal; Arinze Azubuike Anughere, Esq; Hon. (Dr) Akogun Olugbenga Omole; Abayomi Akin Omoyimi, Esq; Ayibaye Peter Great Temedie, Esq and; Ayi Ekpo Ukpayam.
