NFF President, Ibrahim Gusau, shed light on the situation during a recent appearance before the House of Representatives ad hoc committee investigating the dispute between the NFF and the Super Falcons.

Gusau clarified that while no specific funding was allocated for participation, an important development transpired during the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup hosted by Australia and New Zealand.

As part of FIFA’s contribution to the participating nations, a total of $960,000 was disbursed to each of the 32 qualified countries.

This allocation, designated as preparation money, is intended to assist the countries in readying their teams for the prestigious global event.

Emphasizing the financial support the NFF typically receives, Gusau pointed out that the federation often receives funding from both the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and FIFA.

Contrary to popular assumptions, the NFF President clarified that no financial provisions were made by the Federal Government to compensate staff and officials. Instead, the NFF managed its operational expenses through financial assistance from FIFA.

The clarifications offered by the NFF President shed light on the intricate financial landscape that governs the preparation and participation of national teams in international tournaments.
