Show-stopping change: Nigeria’s championship-winning women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, will now land at the private wing of Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, at 2:00 p.m. WAT, instead of the previously announced 12:00 noon.
The team departed Abidjan today on two chartered flights, carrying both players and officials along with the 2025 FIBA Women’s AfroBasket trophy, following their 78–64 win over Mali on Sunday night.
President Bola Tinubu had initially declared his plan to receive the team in Abuja at noon. Speculation now suggests adjustments may have been made to their itinerary or scheduling at the private wing.
Anticipation builds for a reception ceremony to honour the D’Tigress for their historic five consecutive AfroBasket titles and seven overall, as well as securing qualification for the 2026 FIBA Women’s World Cup.
