Rwanda’s cricket star Didier Ndikubwimana has praised his team’s execution and fighting spirit after delivering a match-winning performance in their 24-run victory over Nigeria at the 2025 West Africa Trophy, where he claimed the Man of the Match award for a superb 51 off 53 balls.
Speaking after the win, Ndikubwimana said Rwanda approached the match with clarity, discipline, and a strong belief in their collective plan.
“We executed our skills well. Everyone backed each other, and that made the difference,” he said.
His composed half-century anchored Rwanda’s innings, allowing the team to build a competitive total before their bowlers dismantled Nigeria’s batting order.
Ndikubwimana credited the team’s preparation and growing maturity for the victory.
“We trusted the process. We knew Nigeria are a strong side, so we had to stay focused from the first ball to the last,” he explained.
With the win, Rwanda leveled their series meetings with Nigeria at 1–1, setting up a decisive showdown later in the tournament. Ndikubwimana said the team is already thinking ahead.
“Now that the series is level, we want to come back even stronger. We’re not satisfied — we want to dominate the next game,” he stated.
He also delivered a bold warning to opponents, insisting that he still has higher levels to reach in the competition.
“My best performances are still coming. I feel good, I feel confident, and I want to help Rwanda go as far as possible,” he declared.
Ndikubwimana praised the coaching staff and team unity, noting that Rwanda’s cricket structure is beginning to show results on the regional stage.
“We are growing as a team. The support system is strong, and every player understands their role,” he said.
He concluded by saying Rwanda’s ambition is not just to win games, but to establish themselves as a rising force in African cricket.
“We want Rwanda to be respected in African cricket. Wins like this help us build that identity,” he said.
