“For the past 10 years that we have been coming for this event, we won the event before and after that, it has been a situation where some teams who are more than us will play, and it is the same people that host the event.

It has gone on for a while. We keep talking but it seems like we are being aggressive. Meanwhile, look at my players; none of them is up to the age of the opposing team players.

The host is the owner of the opposing team, so I believe nobody wants to lose in their own house. Coming second is alright, but I know that when next we participate, such will not happen again. We would do better than this,” Coach Asuquo expressed, highlighting the perceived challenges related to age and team ownership.

Regarding the organization of the event, Asuquo commended the overall structure but pointed out the need for fairness, saying, “The organization is good; everything is fine. Nobody should be biased about it.

But the only thing is the bias of the sentiments between both sides. If your team is not good, let those teams that are good go home with the trophy, not retaining the cup because you are the host.

Everything is fine. The organizer is good. For the last 10 years, she has been a friend and very supportive of us. The organization is okay.”

Looking ahead, Asuquo outlined the team’s plans for upcoming tournaments in December, emphasizing a focus on self-improvement and player development.

Despite the challenges faced, Coach Ndifreke Asuquo remains optimistic about the team’s future performances and advocates for a fair and level playing field in future editions of the competition.
