NDIDI AND SUPER EAGLES COACH ROHR’S COMMENT ON THE DRAWS

There has been a lot of social media pandemonium on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and so on how easy Niger’s group C is, considering the calibre of teams in the group which are in the likes of Cape Verde, Liberia and Central Africa. However, while it appears all rosy for the Super Eagles squad considering the fact that the other three above mentioned teams in the group, are outside the top 75 best countries according to FIFA?s latest ranking, it seems a few sect of people are beginning to realize that it is an easy, yet tricky group that could lead to a doom if things are not handled properly. And one of such people with this view is the Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr who today, made a statement concerning the group, and what he thinks the Nigerian team is up to.

Today, Nigeria’s head coach Gernot Rohr reacted to the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qualification Second Round draw, after his Super Eagles team were placed in Group C alongside Cape Verde, Central African Republic and Liberia. Being a man who has amassed a lot of experience in the footballing world, Rohr, who is aformer Bayern Munich defender went further to explain why his side has to be extra careful, even though sport pundits believe it?s a walk over for them. In his response to the Super Eagle?s Media Team who asked him what he thinks about the group, Rohr said

“We’ve three tricky opponents in Group C. A few years ago, Cape Verde were Africa?s best FIFA ranked team, Central African Republic have some good players in Europe and we played a friendly in Liberia recently that wasn’t easy…we’ve to be at our best against them”.

And in the same line of reason, Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi in his tweet today believes that the coach is right, and that their very first match in October will be very decisive. However, he ended the tweet with a strong dose of positivity where he stated that the effort the Super Eagle?s team will make in winning all their three home matches. In his words, he said: “This is the World Cup, no room for complacency. Every game must be taken seriously. Our first game is going to be the most important as well as all our home games, and even away games. We must make it to the third round.”

For the record, the Nigerian Super Eagles has qualified 6 times from, the last 7 world cups, except the rule out that was made in 2006 when they drew the same point with Angola. So, what?s your thoughts on this? Do you think Rohr is just being paranoid, or are the pundits right by saying that the group is a walkover for the Super Eagles? Well, whatever opinion people have, the fact will be decided starting from October this year, when the qualifiers will kick off. And on behalf of every Nigerian, we wish the Super Eagles team goodluck!
