NCAA: Nigerian Women Athletes Make History In The United States Collegiate Competition

Double history has been made as far as it concerns the participation of Nigerian athletes in the finals of the National Collegiate Athletics Association in the United States of America.

Grace Nwokocha, Rosemary Chukwuma and Favour Ofili all made the final of the women’s 100m event at the NCAA finals to make it the first time in NCAA history that three Nigerian athletes will be competing in the women’s 100m final.

Event Favorite, Favour Ofili, qualified for the final after running a time of 11.07s to finish second in her semi final, the same position with which Rosemary made the final with a time of 10.99s, a new PB for the athlete.

Nwokocha on the other hand finished third in her semi final but clocked a new personal best as well, finishing with a time of 10.97s.

This timing is also the first time in the history of Nigeria Athletics that multiple female athletes will go sub-11s under all conditions in a single season.
