NCAA: Baylor University Track & Field Star, Chinecherem Nnamdi, Miss Out On Javelin Title At NCAA Finals

Nigeria’s Chinecherem Prosper Nnamdi couldn’t finish in the top three position in javelin for Baylor University Track and Field at the 2022 National Collegiate Athletics Association Outdoor Track and Field Championship in the United States.

The 19 year old who won bronze in the Javelin event for Team Nigeria at the World Athletics U20 championships in Nairobi, Kenya in August 2021, was signed after the competition to Baylor University and competes in his first NCAA finals.

Chinecherem’s throw of 78.61m was only enough to put him in 5th position as the event was won by University of Pennsylvania’s Marc Minichello with a throw of 81.17m on his third attempt, to set a program and Ivy-league record in the win. He is also the first Pennsylvania men’s javelin champion since 2003.

To complete the top four, Ethan Dabbs of Virginia Cavaliers (79.68m), Tzuriel Pedigo of Louisiana State University (78.90m) and Wichita State’s Taran Taylor (78.76m).
