The new president of Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF), Dr Abdullahi Mustapha has received an open invitation from the global body’s secretary-general, Andreas Zagklis, who disclosed that they had both met in the recent past.
Sports247 reports that, in what appears like a formal acceptance of Dr Mustapha’s recent election as NBBF’s top shot, Zagklis revealed that they once met physically and he looks forward to meeting the new president again any time soon.
This hint was provided in a letter that Zagklis personally signed and sent to Mustapga to congratulate him on his victory during last Thursday’s polls, while also noting the successful conduct of the federation’s elective congress.
Zagklis also used the letter to officially acknowledge that FIBA had received information from the NBBF about results of the election, while commending the Nigerian federation’s compliance with its constitution and regulations of the global body.
While also recognising activities, efforts and achievements of the immediate past NBBF board headed by Engineer Ahmadu Musa Kida, Zagklis went on to recall a recent meeting he had with Mustapha in Berlin, Germany and how he expects to soon meet him again in person.
He concluded by wishing Mustapha and his board a successgul tenure, as the NBBF’s new leadership works to further strengthen Nigeria’s basketball development, improve governance and boost the country’s competitiveness on continental and international levels.
