Competitive activities are set to resurface this Thursday at the National Stadium in Surulere, as students, teachers, staff, parents, old boys and well-wishers of Government College Lagos will gather there for the school’s inter-house sports competition.
Sports247 gathered that it promises to be a busy day of talent hunting and discovery of Nigeria’s future stars, as the college, which is located along Eric Moore Road in Surulere and fondly called GCL, showcases its sports talents.

The school, which is renowned for having produced star footballers life Femi Ajilore and Akeem Ogunlade, will hope to go one step further in unearthing track and field icons as well.
This is the projection of the organising committee, which announced that GCL’s 2025 Annual Inter‑House Sports Competition will take place on November 27th from 9am at National Institute of Sports Field, National Stadium, Surulere.
A press statement from the sports committtee added: “Join us for a day of friendly rivalry and pride at GCL. The Guest of Honour will be Mr Paseda Olufemi Bamidele (TG/PS, District VI), while the hosts are Mrs E T Olokodana (Junior School Principal) and Mr Oluwatoyin Kuforiji (Senior School Principal).
“Highlights of the day will be opening remarks, house matches, relay races and prize‑giving activities. Your presence inspires the students. We look forward to celebrating with you.”
The statement, which was jointly signed by Segun David and Temitope Omisanya, also enjoined all old students of the 51-year-old institution to endeavour to be present at the venue.
