National Sports Festival 2018: Squash Gold For Lagos State Thrills Abdulrahman

Lagos State squash player, Olanrewaju Abdulrahman is still relishing his victory in the final of the 19th National Sports Festival, and says it was a huge delight emerging top of the lot.

Sports247.ng can report that, after beating his teammate, Wale Amao in the final, Abdulrahman said he was able to get the upper hand and win 2-1 because of sheer determination.

Being his third appearance in the multi-sports fiesta, Abdulrahman was excited about his first medal.

Abdulrahman, however, admitted that it was a tough match as both players are familiar foes.

After the festival exploits, Abdulrahman is heading for a competition in United States early next year, for which he disclosed that he needs a lot of support and sponsorship.

He added: “I used to join my prize monies to whatever I could get around for me to play in most of the international tournaments I have featured because I believe I have to make sacrifices.

“I want to appeal to governments and private spirited people to assist my aspirations and ambitious to grow in my career.”
