NANPF praise Surulere council boss for providing ex-players with relief packages

The Executive Chairman of Surulere local government, Hon. Tajudeen Ajide Yusuf, last week Friday, at the council headquarters provided Ex-Nigeria footballers with palliative packages of bags of rice, semovita and thousands of naira, to help alleviate the crunching pangs of the coronavirus pandemic.

It was a well attended event with over 60 retired Nigeria football stars present including Peter Nieketien, Yemi Adebanjo, Taiwo Oloyede, Godwin Obiyan, Wasiu Ipaye, Akeem Ishola, Ganiyu and Waidi Akanni, Clement Temile, Kelvin Etemike, Edema Benson and several others.

The National Association of Nigerian Professional Footballers ( NANPF), in its thank you message signed by its President, Tijani Babangida,MON, it praised the council boss for his philanthrophic gesture, while also describing Hon. Ajide, who was also a former footballer as a ‘brothers’ keeper’.

” We praise Hon. Ajide for his kindness and generosity at all times to the people, and particularly, ex-footballers. As a patron of the players union, we appreciate him for his selflessness. And prayed that God will continue to guide, guard and bless him,” Babangida, the former Ajax Amsterdam and Super Eagles star, said.

Former captain of Abiola Babes and ex-Nigeria international defender, Tajudeen Disu, who stood in for the council boss in his capacity as the Supervisory Councillor for Agriculture, youths and sports in the local government, remarked that the gesture is true to the philanthropic nature and generousity of the council boss.

” It is not a surprise that Hon. Tajudeen Ajide Yusuf, is doing this for ex- footballers. Football has always remain his first love and major constituency. And I tell you, this is just a tip of the iceberg. He certainly has more relief packages and programmes for the people, particularly, ex-footballers, ” Disu, who also doubles as Chairman, Lagos State Chapter of NANPF, stated.
