My Players Are Good Enough For The National Team: Delta Queens Coach

Following Delta Queens’ victory in the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership, coach Tosan Blankson expressed his belief that his players have the potential to join the Super Falcons, Nigeria’s national women’s football team.

Delta Queens clinched the NWFL Premiership title for the first time in 12 years after defeating the defending champions in the final of the NWFL premiership Super six final at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba.

Blankson attributed his team’s success to their meticulous preparation, emphasizing that
their preparations began even before the conclusion of the regular season. He commended his players for their resilience and performance under intense pressure during the game.

According to Blankson, these players possess the quality to represent the national team, and he credited their victory to their hard work and dedication.

The coach stated, “These girls are all national team materials. I am short of words, but I give God all the glory for the victory. Don’t be surprised at what you have seen in the regular season and Super Six; the same level of performance can be expected during continental matches. Football is all about planning. If you fail to plan, you plan to fail.”
Blankson also highlighted a specific strategy they employed in the final, keeping Chinaza, a key player, on the bench for the first half to ensure she was fresh and could make a
significant impact when introduced.

As champions of the NWFL Premiership, Delta Queens will represent Nigeria in the 2023
WAFU-B Zonal Qualifiers, where they will compete for a spot in the CAF Women’s
Champions League scheduled to take place in Cote d’Ivoire later this year. With their recent success and the coach’s confidence in their abilities, Delta Queens will be eager to
showcase their talent and make a strong impression in the upcoming qualifiers and
continental competition.
