Mutual Benefits Badminton Championship Gets Top Marks

Top marks are trailing this year’s Mutual Benefits National Badminton Championship, which came to end at the weekend in Lagos.

Sports247.ng can report that the tournament director, Olumide Bamiduro was first to hail the competition, saying the standard was high and the participants were of very good conduct.

Bamiduro was upbeat, as the competition hit a climax at Nigeria Police College sports complex, Ikeja, Lagos, with Anuoluwapo Opeyori and Godwin Olufuwa both of Lagos State battling it out for the men’s top prize.

To get to the final, Opeyori defeated Clement Krobakpor of Rivers state 2-0 in an exciting semi final duel that kept the spectators on the edges of their seats throughout the match.

Olufuwa on the other hand produced the quality that makes him one of the best Badminton players in the country when he defeated Enjoh Aba also from Rivers state 2-0 in the semi final.

In the women’s singles final, Dorcas Adesokan from Ogun State took on Debora Uke of Edo State, while the men’s and women’s doubles were decided on Saturday night

At the end of the contests, Bamiduro praised the sponsors, Mutual Benefits for remaining in the task of developing the game further and remaining steadfast with their support of badminton.

Bamiduro stated: “They have been our main supporters and we hope more corporate bodies will queue in and emulate them by supporting the sport. We appreciate their commitment.”
