Behind every great athlete is a coach who saw the spark before the world did. For Virginia Commonwealth University sprinter Emmanuel Oche, that coach is Murphy Adaji — the man who discovered and nurtured his raw talent from the grassroots.
Before moving to the U.S.
Emmanuel was already making waves — part of Nigeria’s winning 4x100m team at the 2021 CAA Region II Championships and a finalist at the Edo 2021 National Sports Festival.
Two years on, despite battling injuries, he’s risen through the ranks to dominate his conference with standout performances:
🏆 2024 A-10 Indoor 60m Champion
🥈 2025 A-10 Outdoor 60m Silver Medalist
🥇 2025 A-10 Outdoor 100m Champion
👑 60m & 100m School Record Holder
👑 A-10 Conference 60m Championship record holder
PBs:
⚡ 60m – 6.68s
⚡ 100m – 10.27s
Now he’s back on home soil, ready to chase national glory at the All Nigeria Championships happening at Yabatech, Lagos
