FC Nantes of France winger, Moses Simon is relishing his 81st appearance for the Super Eagles and happy that it came in a 1-1 draw away to Russia on Friday, Sports247 reports.
Simon was on for 90 minutes of the international friendly played at a full capacity Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow, where an own goal by Semi Ajayi put Nigeria behind in the 27th minute but Tolu Arokodare netted his first international goal in the 71st to draw the Super Eagles level in the second half.

Incidentally, Simon’s 80th cap came on an evening when he captained the Eagles against Jamaica in the 2025 Unity Cup final last Saturday and, though he could not add to his current haul of 10 goals for Nigeria, the crafty forward, who will clock 30 on July 12th, said it was a memorable day for him.
The dark-skinned lad from Jos, who shot to limelight at the 2015 FIFA U20 World Cup, declared: “I feel great, and I’m proud of myself. I’m proud of the people back home who keep pushing me that I can still do it. I’ve been so criticised after many games, but I keep going.”
The product of GBS Football Academy of Jos, who previously played for Ajax of Netherlands, Trencin of Slovakia, Gent of Belgium and Levante of Spain, admitted he feels amazing to hit the 80-game mark and beyond in the Nigeria jersey, but confessed that he would love to keep on going much longer.
Moses Simon, who got his first cap against Uganda in an international friendly on March 25, 2015 retorted: “Actually, I don’t count, I just play, but some people called me and reminded me about it.
“They said they were surprised that I’ve been so long in the national team but still playing like this, as if I had just arrived. So, I’m proud of myself.”
